Any Dark Shadows fans here? Does anyone own some of the DVD's? If so please PM me. I own several of them, well actually 16 and was wondering if anyone wanted to sell.

I was GLUED to that soap when I was in junior high (grade 7 - 9)!
No DVDs...but it was totally different than General Hospital! Plus, it was on after school so I could watch it.

From Wikipedia:
Barnabas Collins is a fictional character, one of the feature characters in the ABC soap opera serial Dark Shadows. Originally played by Canadian actor Jonathan Frid, Barnabas was a self-loathing yet sympathetic 175-year-old vampire. In the 1991 NBC revival series of Dark Shadows, British actor Ben Cross played the role of Barnabas Collins.

Oh my God! I haven't thought of that show in years! When I was a kid, the babysitter would always make us take naps when Dark Shadows came on so that she could watch it. We would "pretend" to fall asleep on the floor with our faces toward the screen and watch the show. We loved it.

Johnny Depp will play a vampire in the big screen version of the cult ABC soap Dark Shadows. Depp is producing with Graham King, the north London power player who won an Oscar earlier this year for Martin Scorsese's The Departed. The actor told reporters he has always harboured a desire to play Barnabas Collins, the head of a gruesome clan whose supernatural antics drew a fanatical following from 1966-71. Depp and King have several other projects on the books, notably Shantaram, the sprawling Gregory David Roberts yarn that Mira Nair will direct, and a story about the life of the poisoned Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko.

Quentin Collins scared the BGbeers out of me as a kid. I was only 10 in 1969 and he scared me so much as a ghost. I didn't always get to watch it as we didn't always have a TV so I missed large parts of it. I remember we didn't have a working TV for over 6 months at one time. Large parts of DS are totally new to me, others are but a distant memory.
Quentin was a ghost when I first saw him and he was very scary. Now that I am watching it some 30 years later I am seeing parts that I missed and David Selby was very sexy as the live Quentin, infact he reminds me of Mr. Depp on Pirates, sort of devil may care ladies man. Unlike Depp Quentin is very evil, Selby plays him perfectly.
Quentin I might add is still scary now as the ghost. I think it's because he is so tall, don't know.
Anyway I am enjoying the DVD's. My son got me one for a gift several years ago and I started buying them for myself.
I own quite a lot but was looking for someone to trade with.
Thank you Chris for the wonderful U-Tube clips.

I used to watch the show all of the time. Does everyone/anyone remember Sarah Collins, Barnabas' little sister? She was played by Sharon Smyth, who I went to school with and played with her until I moved out of Philadelphia (in 1968). She would go to NY two days a weeks to do her part.
Oh yes I do remember her. In fact when you buy the DVD's now there are 4 in a set and at the end of each is an interview with a cast or crew member. It is interesting to see how they look now. One interview was with Sarah and it was very cool to see how she looked now.
Really? Cool, I would love to see how she looks now, and know what she is doing. I am going to have to look for those sets.
Hmm, gee, I wonder what brough this on? Could it be that so successful thread about old time TV shows!
He he, great stuff!
Actually, I NEVER watched Dark Shadows! I always got so scared with horror movies that I had already stopped watching anything scary by the time that came on TV. And I don't watch scary movies to this day! I have horrible nightmares.
