*Baby pics post #21* There's a bird's nest in my flower basket

I made up a flower basket with petunias and Mexican heather to hang outside my kitchen window. A pair of Carolina Wrens found it to be prime real estate for their next home and family.

Here's pictures of the nest with 5 eggs. The female has been sitting on them for a week now so maybe we will have babies in another week.

How the basket hangs outside the window.

    View from inside looking out.

While I was at it I snapped a picture of my yellow hibiscus flower today.

Here are some other flowers on my deck.

I'm anxious to see the baby birds soon!

    What about "The Gang"??

Have they discovered that Bird-TV is filming LIVE just ouside the window?
I'll bet "The Gang" would like to "see" some Bird Chicks, too!

How kind of you to create such a lovely environment for the bird family! I would look on that as prime real estate too! Very pretty.

    Love your yellow hibiscus.

Yes, "The Gang" got very excited watching mom and dad bird build the nest. Since then the female has been sitting on the eggs and only leaves the nest a few times a day but when the babies are born the parents will be flying in and out frequently. That is when the real Bird-TV will start. I have a few chattering kitties so it will probably be noisey too.

oh Lori - what fun!! will you be sure and give us updates? I wonder if you will still be able to get close enough for pictures? Only a week and then ....baby birds!! It would be so exciting to actually watch an egg hatch. Then later - lots of fun "TV" for the kitties

Didn't the same thing happen to someone else earlier? or last year? The basket looks like the same type... I wonder how that bird family turned out..

I found it kind of poetic

A question arise though, how do you water the flowers without disturbing them?

How sweet!!! I just love watching bird nests! The parents are so attentive! How fun! You'll have to try and get pictures after they hatch!

Wow, that's a classy nest they found there, and so sweet! It will be such fun when they hatch, and of course, great entertainment for the kitties - from the inside, hopefully!

    Your flowers are beautiful!

Very carefully. I watch till the momma leaves and then I water around the sides of the basket away from the nest. Unfortunately that isn't working the best for the petunias so I may have a very ugly flower basket before it's over.
