    What are you allergic to?

In regards of the Hugito scare made me think what are Pters allergic to...

some may be very "common" allergies, but as Karen stated she´s allergic to several things many would think you can´t be allergic to.....

in my case I´m allergic to egg..... yes, egg...... I can´t eat it..... of course I eat things that are made with eggs as cakes, hotcakes, I use eggs to make hamburgers and to season chicken..... sometimes it will give me a "mosquito bite" allergic reaction...... but egg on it´s own no way jose......

so, what are you allergic to?

The only thing I am allergic to so far is penicillin. I have a very bad reaction to it, so I have to be very careful. But that is all!

Pennicilan is hte only thing I'm officially allergic to.

But the following foods give me instant migraines - the doctor says its like an allergy, only defined as an intolerance.:
    raisins
    pickles
    yoghurt
    alcohol
    certain cheeses
    certain chocolates
basically lots of things that are aged or fermented.

    but seriously
I don't think I'm allergic to anything officially.
I did have an allergic reaction to saline solution that I used for my contacts once but that's it...
Poor Karen - she's allergic to soooo many things. It would stink to eat at a pot luck!

    And how! Especially on Mondays.

I'm allergic to insect bites. When I get mosquito bites I get big red welts. I go through lots of Caladryl in the summertime.

When I worked in the hospital I developed a sensitivity to latex gloves. I got these red rashes all over my fingers and the backs of my hands. Now I'm an insurance nurse, so I'm not around latex gloves on a daily basis anymore. But I don't go to the party stores very often because there's latex in the air from balloons. Our dentist uses the high-tech blue ones which are non-allergic- at least he tells me they are non-allergic.

Besides almost all perfumed things, kitties, hydrangea, tree pollen, grass pollen, dust and dust mites, I have developed a myraid of food allergies over the past few years, so now have a running list I keep ...

Food: No pistachio, cashew, pecans, almonds or "tree nuts", chick peas, sesame seeds, garlic, no yogurt

Fruit: No mango, banana, pear, apricots, grapefruit, lemons, cherry or coconut, strawberries, cranberries, or oranges

Veggies: carrots, celery, sweet potato, malt, broccoli, cabbage, green peas, peppers of any color, cucumber, avocado, artichoke, yellow squash, green beans, green olives or olive oil

Meat: No beef. No lamb. No tuna fish, halibut, grouper, other fish. Lobster and Crab are okay as far as I know - Lady's Human is the opposite, reacts to Lobster and Crab but can eat all the fish he wants.

Odd: No Sucralose/Splenda sweetener, avoid drinks with "citric acid"

Add to that a huge sensitivity to smoke of any sort, and a massive reaction to pot smoke (as well as breathing difficulty, it feels like someone's driving a spike through my left eyebrow), hairspray, most cleaning products, the smell of ammonia, many colognes ...

I am just lucky that I am not allergic to soap - my mother was and sister is, so she has to use either glycerine (Pear's 'soap') or a specialty "soap' called Lowilla.

    Aren'tcha glad you asked?

I'm allergic to dairy products. It was just an allergy to my ears, but I've become lactose intolerant over the years, also. I'm also allergic to fresh pineapple. I LOVE the stuff, but if I eat it, I simply cannot breathe. Yellow mustard also makes my mouth blow up and swell.

    Pineapple
    Yellow Mustard
Red dye in medications - only a certain # of the dye, though

Oh my Karen! So what exactly DO you eat?? What's an example of what you have for breakfast, lunch, and supper?
