Jess and her ball...lots of action shots..

It was a glorious day today so I took the camera with me when I went for a walk with Jess. Got nearly 100 photos of her but I shan't post them all in here. I'll just post these for now and post more later because it's like 2:05am here in the UK and I'd better be getting to bed...

Jess is such a pretty girl. It looks like she's having a great time playing. Nice pics.

Thanks guys. Our Jess always loved playing ball. Still, at 13 years old, she won't be able to do this much longer, lol.

You can imagine what she was like as a young dog, haha!! I wish I had my current camera back then. Btw, it is a Canon eos 10D that I am using with a 28-135mm IS lense. I'm after a longer lense, L series that stops down to 2.8 all the way through but they are very costly.

I'll be getting another border collie pup at some point after having to have our Jess's mum pts in January. I'll have a young neurotic border again, lol.

Anyway, here are some more photos as promised.

Wanting me to just hurry up and throw the damned ball...

    Changing direction..

She still know how to run.

Yes, when I've looked at photos of your Rebel, he reminds me of the expressions our Jess pulls too. She is very expressive but often in a very subtle way where less is more. Other times, moreso like in that photo, lol. She is a great one for the head tilting thing when you say something in a particular tone. She also likes to sing to the ice cream van, lol.

I'll be back with more photos from yesterday soon.

She sounds like quite the character! Gosh I just love Border Collies. After having 2, I don't think I'll be able to own any other breed... they're just perfect!

Ah, I've lived with them all my life. My family already had a red and white dog called Jim when I was born. He was never keen on us kids and didn't allow us or strangers to touch him. We learnt a lot of respect for dogs from him. He growled at us if we got too close but never bit us. He was a working strain dog.
I was just a baby when my dad bought a black and white bitch and called her Jess. We also had a terrier mix at the time who was older than me but younger than Jim. When I was 4, my dad bred from the terrier and kept two of her sons. They were awful with other dogs and always wanted to fight. One got knocked down by a car and killed when he was 8. The other lived to 15. Their mother lived to 17 but would have lasted longer had we not had her pts because she was just not "living" anymore.
When I was coming up for 10, our old jess had one last litter. Yes, she was too old but I was only a kid and she only had two pups anyway which made it easier. Two sons. One of them we kept and called him Monty. A few years later when I turned 13, I got another working strain black and white bitch as a bday present to replace the terrier that had been knocked over the previous year and also to replace our old Jess who had to be pts about a month beforehand. I called my new dog Mist. When she was old enough, we bred her to Monty and kept a daughter who I named after our Old Jess, her grandmother.
Monty passed on a few years ago and Mist in January this year so there is only our Jess now.
Still, my dad has a red and white bitch called Jen and also has a daughter of hers, a tric-colour, sired by our Monty.

We've had other dogs such as GSDs, whippet, the terriers and now my dad has greyhounds but the borders were always best. I'll never change breed.

    Right, more pics....

It was doing this sudden stopping that caused our Jess to dislocate her outer toes on both front feet when she was younger and also rip her front dew claws out. The vet said they'd sort themselves out and they did. She has always been a bugger for insisting on stopping so suddenly. I have plnet of photos of her with her back end up in the air because it it though, haha.

There's a nice view from the playing field where I get these action shots. It's on top of a hill.

    Even more photos...

I love her in this one. She sticks her tongue out when concentrating. Also, with her position, she looks like a spider, haha.

    "Get here you STUPID ball!!!!"

She wasn't sure where the ball was in this one, lol.

Ok, last lot. There were more photo, a lot more but I can't post them all. I doubt photobucket would host them all for me, lol.

Haha, she didn't know where the ball was in this one....you can just see the end of the string attached to it above her head at the top of the photo....lol.

Our Jess always looks like she needs a brush. In reality, I comb her everyday but she still always manages to look really messy. I combed her thoroughly before taking her out to play ball yesterday but she still looks like she's been dragged through a rosebush backwards.
