I think the most popular brred is the "mutt"... and the BEST breed ever! I don't own any on that list.

I own a Rottweiler and two German Shepherds. That list was compiled from AKC registration statistics from 2000. This is the 2001 list.

    http://www.akc.org/breeds/regstats2001.cfm

    1 Retrievers (Labrador)
    2 Retrievers (Golden)
    3 German Shepherd Dogs
    4 Dachshunds
    5 Beagles
    6 Yorkshire Terriers
    7 Poodles
    8 Boxers
    9 Chihuahuas
    10 Shih Tzu

Rottweilers came in 11th. I'm glad their popularity has gone down. People always say popularity is bad for a breed, because when a breed is popular, people will breed any two dogs together just because they can get money off the puppies. They don't care if the parents have hip dysplasia or horrible temperments that will be passed onto the puppies. I think Dobermans and Golden Retrievers are real victims of this, but almost all popular breeds have this problem.

I have a lab-mutt and a golden retriever. My family also has a lab-mutt. We had another golden, when I was growing up.

I like Heinz 57s also, but then we do have a few different full breeds too. I just basically like dogs.

Yellow Lab and Husky/Shep at my house currently. But I love ALL breeds!! Retrievers are great for our family because we are very acitve, live on the water and love to swim and hike and retrieve! GSD's are so noble, dignified, intelligent, loyal and protective of their families. And who could resist those gorgeous Husky blue eyes?? My wish list includes a Golden, Beagle, Chihuahua, JRT, Am Staff, Pug, Flat Coated Retriever, Corgi, Shiba Inu, Border Terrier, Westie, or any combo. of the above!!....But every dog, every breed, wins over my heart the moment I meet them! And I love every "All American" mutt I ever met!! Just check out KayAnn Simba's, Leslie's Graham and Kersey. The list is endless! Each and every dog is so special in her or his own unique way!! I just LOVE dogs!!

    Star,Tigg'r , Mollie and the10 Gallon Gang!

And my Rainbow Bridge Furangels...Jingles, Cody, Fritz, Chessa, Satin, Buddy, Lizzie, Oliver, Squeaker, Moonbeam, Rosie, Ruby~
