Does your dog have any black spots on their tongue?

Kind of a pointless poll, but I was just curious. Every single dog except one in the obedience class Tango and I are in have black/purple on their tongue (1 GSD, 1 AmStaff, 1 Rottweiler, 1 Borzoi and a few Shih tzu mixes). None of my current dogs do, but Echo did have a couple and I think Jesse had one at the very back as well.

Hold on I have to go look......

OK, I'm back. Nope, no black spot on the ACD girl.

Interesting though, since people usually assume if a dog has black on it's tongue it must be a Chow mix. I've seen plenty of pure bred dogs of other breeds that had some color on their tongue though.

I voted no, but Zoee does have a black spot (we call it a freckle) under her tongue. You can see it in this pic I attached.

Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Pepper had one. She was a purebred black cocker spaniel. Our springer, Dixie, had a bunch of black spots. Many purebred dogs have black on their tongues.

    Nope!

When I volunteered at the humane society, if a dog had black on its tongue, they automatically said it must be mixed with chow.. I found that rather annoying.
