    Help Please?

Sadly, this morning my parents' beloved Cavalier died.

My mother does not want to be without a dog. But, as they are in their 80's they do not want a puppy and would prefer an older dog who needs a home.

They live in the Rockford, Illinois area. My mother is partial to silky coated dogs like cockers or spaniels and not too big (don't want to be knocked over!)

If any of you know of any rescue groups in the Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin area I would really appreciate knowing of them to share with my parents.

Your parents sound like they would be perfect for a senior doggie needing a mellow home. Have you looked on petfinder? Also there local humane society could match them.
don't breed or buy while shelter dogs die....

    I have been frosted!

Here is an animal shelter in Rockford, IL.

They have 2 cocker spaniels, but they are only 7 mos. old

I don't know how far Harvard, IL is from them, but there is a cocker spaniel rescue there.

    Hope that helps some.

I forgot to say it earlier when I posted, even though I meant to.
I too am sorry for your parents loss.

From the above mentioned cocker rescue.. This girl looks very sweet.

She sounds perfect! Sorry for your parents' loss. But I was thrilled to read they still wanted a pupster to love. Your parents sound so sweet and caring. Maybe Santa will give them their wish.

I am sending you a pm with a series of contacts. My mother raised Cavaliers for well over 50 years and she knows these people that do rescue.

I am so sorry for your parents' loss of their beloved Cav.

While I am sure they will find something in the local area, I am standing at the ready for any transport work to make it happen for them.

I'm sorry to hear your parents lost their dog. Hope she/he didn't suffer for long. Although a new dog will never be the same, it will hopefully be a comfort, and God knows, there are so many older dogs who need a loving home. Hope they'll find the right one.
