We'll need more information before we can offer any advice. How old are they, what breeds? Who came first to the home? How long ago was the other pet introduced? How long have you had each?

I can relate to this problem I hope yours is not as severe as mine. You might want to read the posts in 'behavior changes' ( http://petoftheday.com/talk/Forum2/HTML/000121.html ) because a lot of people had good advice. Angels3 gave me this link: http://www.uwsp.edu/psych/dog/library.htm
    Scroll to (Potetial) Behavior Problems
There's a section on Dominance and one on More than one pet.. well there's a lot of stuff there that could help. Just look around that site.

I really feel for you and I know exactly how you feel. I'm sorry they are not getting along and I really hope that it works out for you and your babies.

I have 5 cats and a dog. The dog mostly ignores the cats, however he has a real dislike for my cat Scooter.
One thing I have noticed is that with time, the dog has come to ignore Scooter more and more.
I would never leave them in a room alone together, but after 2 years together, they have both learned to give each other alot of space.
Hope this happens with your two.

Hi Bernadette, I have a dog named Angus too!
He is a silky terrier. He and my cat Jazzie get along great considering that he was an only pet for 6 years and hates cats!!
Jazzie found us last year and since, has had Kittens. I forced Angus to like Jazzie (told him he had to be nice to the little kittie, etc)and now they are great friends.
Angus will babysit for her kittens so she can go off and run around. He is very protective of the babies and barks to warn everyone not to come near them, then Jazzie comes back and he goes about his business.
    They are really funny together.
