From 3 ounces to 8 and a half pounds of pure muscle, my little Kyra Kid is turning TWO today! She could fit comfortably in the palm of my hand two years ago and I was so afraid I’d accidentally hurt her. We were faced with the news that she had a physical deformity (cleft palate – a hole in the roof of her mouth) and our vet told us the best thing we could do for her was to euthanize her. It absolutely broke my heart as I was immediately attached to the little girl. After a little research on her “condition” I met a fabulous lady on the internet who had successfully raised many cleft palate puppies, she offered us much needed support and encouraged us to give Ky a chance – and boy am I glad we did!
Kyra is an amazing, fun, loving girl with her share of goofy quirks, you can’t help but laugh at some (okay, most) of the things she does! She loves her bouncy balls and frisbees, and is pretty much everything I’ve ever wanted in a dog. I can’t imagine life without my lil’ baby Kyra kid!
Some baby pictures:
She was a couple days old here
For size comparison purposes – Kyra with her brother Rocky and sister Jackie
A little older – with the foster kittens
We sort of celebrated her birthday over the weekend up at our cabin, but I'll be sure to share cake and present pictures...once zoto is working!
Happy Birthday Kyra!
Heres to many, many more
