    First time off Lead

I'm so proud of my boy.

On Sunday night I took him down to the river for a swim. I had lost his tie out chain on an earlier excursion so he could only go out as far as his retractable lead would let him. So that meant no fetch and no fetch equals no fun for Teddy. I have always been afraid of allowing him off lead even though his recall is almost 100% there is still that chance. But I figured since we were back in the woods and on a little island in the middle of the river that I would try it just once. So I took him off lead threw the stick out into the water and he swam out to get it and came right back. I made a HUGE deal and decided to try again. We played for about 20 minutes or so. Just playing fetch off lead. One time he was out fetching the stick and started to swim towards the other bank and I called him back and he turned right around and swam back to me.

here are some pics (sorry about the quality)

R.I.P my dear Sweet Teddy. You will be missed forever. We love you.

it really does. I have actually done all the training with him myself. As we have moved around a lot there wasn't really much time to put him in a class that he could finish. So all his training was done by me (which makes me even more proud lol) We are planning on putting him in an obedience class for fun anyway and then start agility
