I paid $3.74 last week at the station I go to - most others were $3.80+. I didn't notice what it was today when I went out (central DE).

It was just on t.v. yesterday, the huge profits that the oil companies are making. Hmmm - guess it's just not huge enough to suit them - so they raise the prices more.

I lucked out on Saturday and I was able to find it for $4.10/gallon. It was an Arco staion that said it's under new management. The Arco station that I usually go to is up to $4.16/gallon which is still a lot less than most places. I'm so thankful that I don't have to drive very far to work and that my car gets good gas mileage.

Krazyaboutkatz, I noticed we are in the same area, and I too tend to go to the Arco stations! They are 'cheap' compared to the 76, Chevron, Shell, and all those other stations around here. I can't wait for it to go back down.... I'd be happy with $50, to be honest. And that still isn't anything to be jumping up and down about.

    I can't believe it's over $4 in Cali .

Last I saw it was $3.68 here, but between here and my hometown, there are usually certain places with it cheaper.

In Connecticut, it's now over $4.00/gal thanks to CT's wonderful (NOT!!!) taxing the crap out of it.

I remember the gas rationing back in the '70s when $5.00 would get me a full tank in my little powder blue 1972 VW bug!!! Those were the days! Now $5.00 will get you MAYBE a gallon and a squirt or two.

Are you seeing a decline in gas prices where you are?
I got gas this a.m. - it was down to $3.53 where I always get it. What a bargain - right???

ETA: The attendant at the station this a.m. said they are expecting it to drop another 10 cents in time for the 4th weekend. The oil companies must be in cahoots with the resorts and theme parks. They want your attendance there, and not staying home because it's too expensive to travel! Figures - there's always a motive behind it!

Actually.... When you think about what it takes to mine, transport, refine, transport again and then deliver a gallon of gasoline... We have it pretty good in the US.

I mean, you pay more for a gallon of milk most places now.

Also, when the scale of this is considered, there are a lot of companies that make way bigger profit margins. (Google anyone?) I WANT oil companies making good profits. Anybody with a private reitement plan almost certainly has some of their money invested in them.

ALL of this said... It could be made more inexpesive at the point of delivery. But THAT is a discussion more suited for the DH. LOL

Nope - she wore a brand New Jersey. Haven't you ever heard that old song? You're certainly young enough to remember Perry Como.

I think the lowest I've seen is $3.81 but there may also be some stations in the $3.70's range. It's always so much more expensive for everything in CA.
