Help, research paper

For school I have to do a research paper on anything I want. I want to do it about animals of somesort.
Do you guys have any ideas?

How about Puppy Mills and just how horrific conditions can be, why they exist, the lack of any regulation by government agencies on dog breeders, etc. You should be able to get a lot of info on the internet and also educate your peers in the process.

I don't know how old you are, but when I was in the 4th grade I did a paper on siamese cats. I think it was my first research paper. Doing that paper sparked a lifelong interest in cat breeds, colors, patterns, and genetics that exists today (and 4th grade was a long, long time ago!). My sources were sparse way back when, but nowadays a click of the mouse brings more information about anything than you could ever want to know. In fact, just last week I found a site on, you guessed it, cat genetics that I found very interesting. I could have used it for my paper way back when. But then, I did get a 100 on my paper, so I guess my little World Book encyclopedia did okay. I think a subject with some socially redeeming value would be a very good idea, too, such as the puppy mill issue or pet overpopulation and euthanasia. Good luck on your paper!

My first thought was to suggest a paper on puppy mills, but then I figured it might be too sad and utterly depressing. But researching the origins of your favorite breed of dog, or maybe even a paper about some of the wild dogs of Africa might be less sad. Or you could pick some endangered species to research, or maybe one of the unique kinds of animals in the Galapagosm wher the big oil spill just was. Of course I'm full of ideas now - I'm no longer in school, so don't HAVE to write papers!

I got a 97/100 points.

Yeah, Diana, good for you!! That is one subject I am interested in, too. One of my kids (I don't remember which one) did a paper like that, too. One day I would like to visit Ely, MN for a "Wolf Weekend"! www.wolf.org
