Last weekend was the National Belgian specialty and Renaissance dog shows. Because of the specialty, the all-breed shows had quite large entries for Belgians. This was Tandem's very first show, at ten months of age, without any prior handling classes, and being andled by myself (who is terrible!!!).
On Friday we took Best of Winners for a five point major. On Saturday in the specialty we took 2nd in senior puppy sweepstakes, 2nd in regular senior puppy under judge Pauline Sternhoff from Belgium. In the all-breed on Sat we took Reserve Winners and Best Puppy. On Monday we took Best of Winners again for a 3 point major.
I'm very proud of my boy who showed so beautifully. He acted like he has been doing it his entire life, and he's never been in a situation like this before. It was a very large indoor show and he acted like he owned the place. We walked out of there needing only two more points for his Championship -- the same amount that Visa needs. I haven't shown Visa in 2.5 years and plan to finish her this year or next -- any time there is a show nearby she either has pups or is out of coat.
I attached pictures taken candidly at the show. I didn't even know any were taken until I was tagged on facebook yesterday! These were all taken by Angela Norton. And yes I am swimming in that suit, it was WAY too big for me and makes me look huge, but it was the only light coloured suit I have and believe it or not fit me three years ago. In the one picture he is jumping up to see if the judge has cookies -- this is very typical, he thinks everyone has cookies.
Enjoy the pictures.
