    Veggie tales!

Steamed veggies have been the thing around my house lately.

There are a few ways I fix them.

I just steam them over water, make a plain steamed rice in the bottom pan- you can use chicken, beef or tomato bullion to flavor the rice. You can also sub chicken or beef broth for the water.

I use either butter or ranch dressing when I serve up a plate!

    ------------------

If you like you can use almost any veggie combo- My faves are broccoli, onions, cauliflower, string beans, potatoes, zucchini and carrots.

Bell peppers and celery are good too!

I got a tip about how to prep the veggies- plastic bag, add veggies, some oil and garlic salt/powder-shake and put into the steamer.

You can add any dried herbs to the bag. I like rosemary or basil the best!

If you have any kind of left over meats you can slice them and toss them into the mircowave or add them cold to your final dish.

Try it and have fun, it's an easy way to fix a meal. If you like, you can prep all the veggies before hand and put them into a bowl in the fridge.

I prep the cauliflower, carrots, onions and broccoli first, that way I can chop whatever I want to add to the mix!

Hint? Try and cut everything into the same sized pieces-that way everything cooks at the same time!

    Wouldn't the plastic bag melt?

Sorry, I am allergic to so many veggies, anyway. I'm just no fun.

LOL, how stupid of me.....You mix all the veggies in the bag, then empty it into the steamer!

Just wanted to make that clarification for folks who CAN eat veggies. Leaving them in the bag would get pretty messy - and inedible as well!

Richard, for a minute I thought you had started watching cartoons. My grandson loves Veggie Tales! You have given me some good ideas and I thank you. Steaming vegetables preserves more of their "goodness" so you are really eating healthy. Good for you and good for all of us. Yum!

To keep cut up veggies fresh before you steam them, keep them in the fridge in ice cold water. Specially potatoes. They won't turn brown that way.
No matter what anyone does, someone some where will be offended some how!!!!

I love most vegetables! This sounds really good. I'd like to try different kinds of squash together.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Do the squash with yellow onions and carrots.

Dress them with a touch of bottled dressing-Italian, the spicy kind is killer!

The carrots and the onions get so sweet it a crime!

I have to admit that every time I see the title of this thread, the cartoon theme song starts running through my head.

    You Guys!

Just like all the other I-net and TV "Cooks" ...

Just gloss rite over all those "phine points" and lil details that make the
BIG difference between success and something the Dawgs won't touch!

WRITE what you MEAN ... and QUIT leavin stuff out!
Those lil "details" where "veryone knows THAT" =

NO, "everyone" does NOT know all that stuff.

The first Green Bell Peppers I ever bought almost rotted before I managed to
find the "directions" for how to "open 'em" and what to do next!

Where's my Kan Opener? ... I gotta "cook" lunch!
