Owners Reunited With Stolen Pups
Dogs Found Alive Inside Van On West Side

CHICAGO -- Five dogs stolen from a van parked downtown Monday afternoon were safely recovered Tuesday morning on the Near West Side.
NBC5 reported that an employee arriving to work nearby spotted the van early Tuesday and called police.
Police found the van at 1225 S. Union Ave. All five missing dogs were alive inside the van, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
The owners of the dogs arrived at that location to claim them shortly thereafter. The dogs had apparently huddled together against the cold overnight and appeared healthy and happy to have the ordeal behind them.
The owner of Fetch & Play doggy day care, Jose Varela, said Monday's theft occurred when an employee left the van unlocked with the engine running while he went inside to deliver a dog.
At about 2:10 p.m. Monday, the employee said his white 2006 Ford E-150 van was stolen from the 100 block of West Hubbard Street, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Police say no arrests have been made.
