    Overnight guest Odie *pics*

I often take dogs from the shelter to spend a night with me for a much needed break and some socialization. It is a lot of fun for me and I am able to provide the dog some training and manners for when he/she is adopted and goes to a new home. It also allows me to counsel people on the individual dogs better and I can tell them what to expect in a home environment.

During the past 2 weeks, I've had Odie over 3 different times. He's a 10 month old Heeler mix who we saved from the kill shelter. He was VERY timid and scared for his first couple weeks, but he is really coming out of his shell. He is wonderful in my home and sleeps next to me with his head on my pillow. He is really going to make a wonderful companion for a very lucky person.

(Ignore my pink premier collar I had on him, hehe)

Oh Aly he is adorable!!!! He does look and sound like he will be an awesome pet for some lucky person.

I think it's great you give the dogs a break like that. I'm sure it's wonderful for them plus increases their chances of getting adopted.

    Best of luck to Odie.

He is so sweet! I think it's great that you can take some of the dogs home like that. I'm sure it relieves a lot of their stress from being locked up all the time. He's a very lucky dog to have a friend like you. I hope he finds a good home soon. You ever think about getting just one more?

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.
