    Close call with Braggo

Hello everyone I took Braggo to the store last night and it is next to a little bar well I went in and left Braggo in the car with all the windows down was parked 8 feet from the door and when I came out the lady at the counter said something to me so I turned around to talk to her and at the same time my old boss came out of the bar and came up behind me. He was just saying hello but I didnt see him so he smacks me on the back and say's hey Tim about the time he hit my back Braggo went insane and came out the window looking like Cujo and went after Stan I yelled Braggo no bite but he was in mid leap at the time so he slams into him but my yelling stoped him from biteing him. Once Braggo saw that I knew this person he was all like oh no so so sorry and turned into a giant puppy again but man that really scared the crap out of me. Shelter said he had never showed any sign's of aggression towards people or other animals. Wife asked me if I got onto him but to tell you the truth kinda made me proud and safe I do think Braggo would have my back if it was real and I was in danger.

Whew, thank goodness everything turned out okay! That's a dog's protective nature for you!

My Dad once came home from an event of costume with face make-up and fake facial hair, and our Saint Bernard wasn't even going to let him in his own house ... until he spoke her name, and she just about dissolved in embarrassment and "welcome home" wiggles!

You were lucky (this time!), that it turned out as it did, as it could have turned very ugly - very fast. You really should consider some formal training for him, now that you know what he is capable of, before someone - or Braggo - gets hurt. You may think/say "it will never happen again", but this is just turning your head to a potentially serious issue that very well could happen again at any time.

Good for you, Braggo for listening to your dad! I am glad it all turned out okay! But you know what, I think I'm with pomtzu on the suggestion of training classes. I wouldn't want Braggo going after another person in his efforts to defend you, and have that escalate into a more difficult situation. If some training classes would help to prevent that, all I can think is it would make an already good dog all the better

Edited to add: I like this picture so much! Braggo, you're so handsome! Please have your dad give you a hug for me

I'm sure Tim'll plan to do more training with Braggo now, as the shelter told him he had no aggressive/protective instincts so the whole thing was a surprise. But at least Braggo knew his Dad well enough that he listened when Tim said "no bite!"
