Here's an RBF with a handful of cherries......There is an area on the roof of our house where the tiles pulled up and flipped over. It was fixed once and I pulled out the HEAVY ladder to climb up and look at them myself.
On Sunday I saw a couple of guys from a roofing company stop in front of the house.

We talked, I took the card and gave them a call to see if they would come out and fix the problem. He wanted to take photos and go up on the roof and look at it. After the car came into the house, the company who did that work also looked at the roof and pronounced it fit for a few more years so we didn't need a whole new roof. The guy was angling to do the whole roof and charge it to the insurance company.

The person I talked to called to say that the job had a minimum charge of 250 - they charge by the 'square' (bundle of tiles) and the job was so small they would have to send out a lone person.

These days people are dying to work and this company hesitates to make a little money on a small job.......

I have been lately thinking about all the old foods that we don't have anymore. I would gladly crack a crate of walnuts for a bowl of real ice cream!!

Well, sonce it's ice cream Thursday's, we'll get the ice cream maker going and make some REAL ice cream.

Growing up my parents made ice cream with a handcranked machine.

The running joke was, "IF you DON'T crank, you don't eat...."

Having a large family made making ice cream fun, ice cream in no time...

No, we have one o' them newfangled 'lectrical ones.

Normally we have too much going on for someone to sit and crank on the ice cream maker, given that normally we use it in the summer, which means there are plenty of garden chores that need to get done in addition to making ice cream.

At least the squirrels didn't leave THOSE nuts in the lawn......black walnuts make one heck of a racket when you hit them with a mower!

And Jen accuses ME of spoiling Angel! At least it's virtual ice cream, so we don't have to deal with the non-virtual gas. Someone forgot to give her her beano before dinner last night...phew!

Well, round 1 with the tiller is done.

2 carts full of New York potatoes (AKA ROCKS!), one tired human, 2 kids who had fun skipping the aforementioned rocks into the pond, and a garden that's 50% tilled.

Also one very confuzzled pup, who was wondering why I was walking the noisy thing instead of walking her.

With that task done, can I get about a gallon of lemonade?

Sunday I gave three little purple potatoes that I had bought then forgotten about to a lady in my church who is an avid gardener. I had to explain to her that they had sprouted, so, being Bummy's granddaughter, I "had" to plant them, but have no dirt to call my own at the present time, and no sunny spot to even put a container of dirt! We have lots of nice shade, but potatoes do need sunlight!

Have you ever dealt with black walnuts? Quite a different experience! But if you want "real" ice cream, drive up a bit! I know there are plenty of Ice Cream places near LH and family, or you can come all the way up to Boston (well, Newton) and I'll take you to Cabot's .... http://http://cabots.com - or, this time of year if it's on a weekend, to Ronnie's near Dad's house ...
