Thread: dream dog?

    dream dog?

there is usually one breed of dog that we really want for one reason or another but cannot have. which would be your dream dog?

mine would definitly be a husky or a border collie. i can't have these dogs because of their size and energy level.

    so, how about you?

Pharaoh Hound, but I'll never have one, unless I find a rescue in my area.

I always used to have little furry mutt dogs. It was so hard to find ones who had all the qualities I wanted, so I had to choose a breed. I love shih tzus! They are small, beautiful fur, love to cuddle, they let you know when someone is there and they are playful and funny. We have 2 of them and they do the exact same things all the time. They can play together and run in the house, so we don't have to walk them as much as big dogs. Mine also like to sit in the computer chair with me--not something I would want a big dog to do! There is a perfect dog for every one, you just have to find them.

Pit Bull definatly. I can't have one because my parents don't want another dog. I'd take any dog that i could though no matter size, age, color, whatever. I'd take a purple dog if i had to.

At one time I probably would have said an Old English Sheepdog
(exposure to one too many Doris Day Movies I'm sure), but
I think I'm purty well sold on Collies now. I've been spoiled
with how easy they are to train and how devoted they are.
I love my Cairns, but they wouldn't hesitate to leave me to
take off after the first squirrel that crossed their path, but Oz
proved this last weekend that it wasn't even worth chasing after
a flock of deer, if it meant losing sight of me. Twaz an incredible
    feeling.

for as long as I remember I wanted an Afgan hound. But now that I have 13 cats, I think we are putting the dog thing out of the question.

Hmm well that would be either a Pharoh Hound, Ibizan hound or a Basenji. None of which I can get at the moment because of the three I already have (wouldn't change them for the world) and well because Alberta doesn't have the best weather for any of them, it gets to cold.

Till recently though, one of my dream dogs was a papillion but I now have one of those so you can scratch them of the dream dog list

Thanks Amy for the great sig!

I can't wait to own a Newfoundland someday!!! I've wanted one since I was little and read about one in a book (can't remember what one) where a newfie saved a his owner, a little girl, from drowning. And from everything I've read, they seem like THE BEST dogs!! But alas, I'm renting, and can't have dogs where I live, and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to own my own house in the area I live (one of the most expensive housing markets in the country!!!!)...so for now I dream of the day I can own a dog and just love my cats.

BTW - I'm new to this community - I just introduced myself and my two cats in the cat forum. I hope you don't mind my posting here as I am a great dog lover too!!

I would love to have a brindle Mastiff, but there are a couple of reasons I don't have one.

    1. I could never pay $1,500-2,000 for a dog!
    2. They don't live very long.
    3. I already have 3 brindle beasts! (Which I love, of course!)

Labrador, Golden, Rottweiler, Shar Pei, Saluki, Slaughi, Akita, Husky, Springer Spaniel, Grate Dane and more -> too big, not allowed to have these big dogs.

Poodle, Chinese Crested, Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Beagle, Japanese Chin and more -> too expensive

Mixed small breed dog -> No dogs availeble (so popular that all the puppies find homes rigth away, I am always too late)

Thank god I have my two babies (Poodle dog and a Labmix puppy) I wouln't exchange them for anything in the world
But I still would like a third dog
