How to know who's the culprit?

Any tips on how to find out which cat is going all over the house? I have a feeling it's Marsh, just because she's done it before, but then it could be Pickles because he was "digging" on my coat. They aren't brazen enough to do it in front of us. I have this feeling that they're just doing it b/c they're pissed off! *sighs* Hopefully the new measures will take care of all this. If not, off to the vet.
