    Jicama -- yum!
I'm sometimes asked "Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer: "I am working at the roots." -George T. Angell, reformer (1823-1909)

It looks like a big brown turnip, but it tastes like a sweet radish. You cut them into strips and eat them raw, or shread them and have them in salads. They're rather like Kohl Rabi, but bigger. I'll see if I can find more info and post it. (I first heard of them about 12 years ago, apparently we hadn't been importing them previously or I just had missed them until then.)
