They're so adorable. I sure hope that you're able to find the purrfect home for them.

If the shelter I bring kitties to was able to place a three month old kitten with cataracts, chances are pretty good these little tykes may get a home too. Provided they don't need to have what's left of their eyes enucleated. It looks to me as though an early on infection blinded them. Poor tiny babies were born (or at least nesting) in a small pickup truck bed, that was backed into a garage. Fiberglass insulation and other rubble was tossed into the truck. Insulation can cause problems all on its own! Spun glass and newborn kitten skin etc.

The kittens are precious and I will keep them in my prayers. Bless you for all the time and work that you put in to save these lovely kitties.

I think they could use an eye specialist to clean
    out any left over debree.
Did the vet suggest an eye water solution for them?
Just to help with any stinging pain they may have.

Carla, All the vet suggested was "euthanise them". Nope...won't do unless they're suffering in some way. I wonder if the vets opinion would be different if his wife gave birth to a blind child? And cats don't bellyache about their handicaps unlike some people. *sigh*

    I'll look into this.
Maybe there's some kind of very safe solution we could use.
    Water base of course.

    I agree!

I agree with Carla- since the vet dismissed them with euthanasia.... it may be that alternatives to relieve pain, discomfort, pressure, cause of blindness were not adequately explored. jan, you were there, do you think the vet visit was adequate or not?

It was a dash through the door, and dash out event. I didn't have the money to pay for an office exam, and the clinic was busy. I'm going to wait until they're a bit closer to 8 weeks rather than four, and bring them in then. The don't seem to be in any pain or discomfort. They're tottering about exploring, and learning to play. They don't even have teeth coming in yet.

Oh Jan my heart is breaking and yet overjoyed! I'm sick at the the attitudes vets have about blindness! I guess there are so many homeless beautiful sighted cats that they figure these little ones don't stand a chance. If a good home can be found they will have a wonderful life! Magoo is very happy now and enjoys life just fine. He's a little slower at doing things but that's about the only difference.
I'm overjoyed because you are sticking up for them and letting them have the chance at life! I hope you find a good home for these babies because the sooner they learn their new environment the better. Of course they will adjust when the time comes but it would be wonderful to find a forever home for them while they are still young.
Thank you for taking such good care of them!!!

I agree they need a chance! They're way to young to make a life & death descision about, and Magoo is such an incredible inspiration in my choice to give them a chance. I can already see them exploring a bit with their noses, and whiskers. They can barely walk at this rate they're so young, but I think they'll adjust fine given time.

Hmmmm Conn. isn't that far from Mass. And seven's a nice number! They are a very cute pair! I'll get pictures of the whole family soon. Mama has the most gorgeous ticked coat, and huge saucer sized eyes that are a lovely green. I thought at first she may have been a scared feral, but she's been dumped like garbage. *sigh*I'll keep everyone posted on new developments with this pair of tykes!
