Mystery Of How South Jersey Cat Lands In Georgia Solved
POSTED: 6:37 pm EST November 14, 2007
UPDATED: 6:58 pm EST November 14, 2007
NBC 10 reported about Heathcliff the cat on Monday. He disappeared from South Jersey weeks ago and then turned up down south last week.
The mystery of how Heathcliff made that more than 700-mile journey has been answered.
Heathcliffe's owner, Kristen O'Donnell, told NBC 10 the whole story.
A man, who lived in the same apartment complex in Sicklerville where O'Donnell and Heathcliff lived, passed away about three weeks ago.
That man's mother lives in Georgia. She came to Camden County to clean out his belongings from the apartment. In the process of loading up her truck a cat kept jumping into the truck, and she kept taking the cat out and he kept jumping back in.
The woman thought he was out of the truck so she started the long drive back to Georgia but six hours in she heard a meow. She looked in the back of the truck and didn't see anything so she kept going but when she got to Georgia there was the cat.
She tried to keep the cat but he apparently ran away and a couple in Lawrenceville, Ga., found the cat. They trapped him and brought him to the local animal shelter.
The shelter scanned the cat for a microchip and the microchip revealed that Heathcliff was from New Jersey. The shelter called O'Donnell and told her Heathdliff was down there and she has been trying to make arrangements to bring the cat home.
The woman who brought Heathcliff down to Georgia saw a local news story on the cat that included an interview with a doctor that O'Donnell works with in Sicklerville. It turned out the Georgia woman's granddaughter, who lives in South Jersey, goes to that doctor.
The granddaughter called O'Donnell and that is how the mystery was solved. That was how Heathcliff got to Georgia.
Heathcliff will start his journey back to South Jersey on Thursday, arriving on Friday with a veterinarian making the trip with some other animals.

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.
