He died yesterday. Below is a photo gallery of 20 of his works - and there are many more.
I think it is him in the first photo - he did have a cat!

More than half of the paintings feature a dog, cat or horse! Worth clicking through the gallery. And the story mentions that first one (with the cat in it) sold for the most ever for a Canadian painter.

I just looked through the gallery. Wow! These are stunning! Such incredibly beautiful paintings.
I never heard of him before this. I think I've missed a lot. Maybe a whole lot of us out there have missed a lot.
Thanks, Candace.
Rest in peace, Sir.

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

Colville started as a war artist - kind of like a war photographer. His biographer tells of when he went to Bergen-Belsen after the liberation. There were many dead people and they were being buried in long graves, trenches. He sketched what he saw, but this had a lasting effect on him. His biographer talks about a "code" in his paintings - the placement of people and animals. They are normal scenes but have an odd darkness to them.
