    I had not heard this story, but animal clones have not yet been very successful - look at Dolly the sheep ... the earliest, highly touted example of a clone, died young.

    I think science would be better served figuring out how dogs smell cancer, and finding more with that ability, than cloning one who does.

    I agree. Find the gene, and figure out how to test for it, and selectively breed the old-fashioned way. May take longer, but has thousands of years of success.
