Hello all,
I just wanted to send out a warning now that the weather is getting warm that it is once again Heartworm season. A lot of people don't think that cats can get heartworm, but they can and do. Even indoor cats are not safe (although they are safer) from the Heartworm.
Treatment of cats with Heartworm is very dangerous, costly, and only has a 50% rate of survival. So prevention is key. Right now Heartguard has a product out just for cats (don't just give them a small chunk of your dog's Heartguard! The does will not be right). I know that it is exspensive, but it is a very dangerous parasite that can be prevented.
If you have any questions about cats and Heartworm, feel free to ask!
Cheers,
Tigeress
