I joined Pet Talk in November of 2002, but lurked since I stumbled on a link from Yahoo in 2001. My name comes from an elderly gray and white cat named Smokey (the Elder) who had had a lot of health issues but was such a loving patient little kitty.

I work as a chemist, "babysitting" pilot plant batches of what will hopefully become useful drugs someday.

I have nine cats of my own:

Mobius: 12 year old Tortie female, who's diabetic
Diva: 9 year old black female, with cerebellar hypoplasia
Diamond: 7? year old black female who "rescued" me six summers ago
TicTac: 6 year old black male, probably one of Diamond's kittens
Smokey the Younger: 5.5 year old spotted silver and black female, Diamond's kitten born in my house
Bosun: 6? year old long haired tortie, with plenty of 'tude
Bubba: 9 year old brownish-black male, former foster, aka The Love Sponge.
Pink Nose: 7 year old black tuxedo male, cancer survivor
Ebony: 15 year old long haired black giant male, was my mom's cat

Fosters:

Velvet: EXTREMELY pregnant black tuxedo, who's really sweet
Marnie: White and orange female, about 3
Nutmeg: (aka FATmeg): 3 year old gray tabby semi-feral.
