    Ever Hear Of This Condition

    http://www.roen.com/980330.html

I'm pretty sure I have this. Not sure where it came from,
but I suspect either Punkin or Joey, who have a habit of sleeping
on my bed during the daytime. I did a mass application on
everyone, but Redbud. (I have to sneak up on him) I've washed
all bedding (theirs & mine) and banned all kitties from my bed
until this is under control. Yuck, the rash itches really bad and
    looks like measles.

I've had indoor cats for over six years and never had a problem
like this before. Dang. Neither Smokey nor the kitties show
    any symptoms of a problem.

Edit: I applied Advantage on the whole gang.

Yikes, Liz!!!! I have never heard of this before. I hope you don't have this, but I think you have taken appropriate action, just in case. Will the Advantage take care of it on the pets? Bathing the cats would not be an easy thing in this house, for sure, but we can get Advantage/Frontline on them.

Keep us posted. Hope your itchies go away soon.

I've never heard of this either but just reading it makes my skin itch. It must be very very uncomfortable. Good luck with the bathing.

I'm pretty sure I do have it. It itches like crazy.

It is on my ears , neck & back & does look like measles. I talked
to the Vet today & he said the Advantage would take care of it
on the kitties. Since these little creatures don't really like human
skin , the rash should go away if the cats are treated.

It rash isn't as bad today as it has been, but yuck.....
I would post a picture of these critters ( Cheyletiellas), but I'm
sure you would really start itching yourselves. Ugly little buggers.

Note to Self: I LOVE my kitties, I LOVE my kitties. LOL.

I have used an oatmeal-based bath additive that really helped me when I had a sunburn years ago. I can't remember the name of it but it was like a lotion almost that you put in your bathwater. You then have a good soak and it seems to relieve your itch.

Oh, just remembered, I think it's called Aveena or Aveeno, something like that. It really helped me.

Liz, if you are still having problems with the itching there are a couple of things you can take. You might want to try Benadryl cream or some other antihistamine cream, or a hydrocortisone cream. If things are really bad go for the Benadryl caplets, the only problem is that this will make you very very sleepy. If you talk with your neighborhood pharmacist they should be able to suggest something for you.

Good luck and I hope the itching goes away soon...

Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash. I use it all the time because it leaves my skin so soft.

Guess what, the itchies and rash are all gone. I used
Calamine lotion & even dabbed alcohol directly on the rash
when the itch became too bad. The whole episode lasted a
little longer than a week. I really prefer showers to baths so
didn't get to try the Aveeno.

Wanted to say that the Vet said I had a choice between bathing
the kitties with a special shampoo or applying the Advantage, but
not to use the two together. I've never bathed a Cat in my life &
just the thought of bathing 5 scared kitties was a bit scary for me.
I 'm so happy the Advantage worked for all of us.

Liz, I'm glad to hear that you've recovered and are no longer itchy. I'm also glad that the advantage has worked too.

Liz, I can't pull the site up, it will not load. Could you, or anyone who has read the thread, explain exactly what you are talking about here? My curiosity is killing me......thanks

Liz it may not have been what you thought, any of us can develop an itching rash at any time, an allergic reaction to what , sometimes we never know, I often break out in rashes, and to this day have never found out what it is, my mother had a rash for over ten years that was itchy, they thought it could be something she was eating, but never found out, it just went away one day, so let us hope your's does not return, but don't be too sure it was what you thought.

Oh yes it was, but it's gone now. I have no allergies & haven't had a rash since childhood measles. I'm not even allergic
    to poison ivy.

Lat192004, Try the link again now. I just tried & it's working.

Well I am glad that it is gone, that is the main thing,I wasn't doubting you, I mean you should know, its just that allergies are strange things, and can affect anyone at any time, I ate fish for years, then all of sudden bang I became severly allergic, just talking from my own experience, but hey Liz great that you are better again.
