    my poor duchess

My puppy, a scotty, is almost four months old. She started throwing up, has blood in her stool, the last time she threw up it was foamy. She isn't eating or drinking. Our local vet put her on some medicine but she isn't keeping it all down. Please help I don't want to lose my dog.

I'm sorry to hear about your girl. If you have any concerns about the medication, ring the vet straight away. If you are still not sure, well vets are like doctors and it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion.
Hope she gets well Oggy & Flute will send a pupy prayer.

hi, she may have food allergies. my dog had similar symptoms and turned out she was allergic to her food. you can buy special foods for dogs with allergies. lizzie eats pinnacle.
good luck, i hope she feels better soon.

Thanks for everybody's concerns. Even though she had her shots she has parvo, we had to bring her to the emergency room and now she is at the vets but our hopes are high she's a frisky fighter.

    Parvo and puppies

Common reasons for failure of immunity to develop against Parvo in puppies are:

    1. Maternal antibodies from the milk still being present at the time of vaccination. This is especially true for pups 5 weeks or younger, and is the reason why booster shots are given. If maternal antibodies are present the attenuated virus in the vaccine is inactivated, and the puppy's immune system will never react to it.

    2. Mishandling of the vaccine during shipment, and/or non-proper storage, causing a less potent vaccination.

A puppy probably isn't completely safe against Parvo until the vaccination cycle is complete.

However, even a weak vaccination or partial immunization should help the puppy to recover faster. But the most important thing you did was to react promptly and get the puppy treated. You have at least a 80% chance of a complete recovery if not better.
