From one of the daily emails I get:

Did you know...

... that today is the birthday of the QWERTY Keyboard? The
QWERTY keyboard used on most typewriters and computer
keyboards was introduced on the Remington typewriter on
September 12, 1873. It takes its name from the first six
characters seen in the far left of the keyboard's top row of
letters.
