Nursery Stuff (nursery furniture photos added to posts #29 & 30 on 06/30)

I have found the absolute perfect wall decal for the nursery. I originally was really wanting to check out a muralist in the area to paint the entire room like a scene with Dr Seuss characters, but have since changed my mind.

So, I've got a few ideas for the room...but this wall decal will absolutely be the focal point of the wall. I'm so excited, I love when you get that feeling that you have found the PERFECT item for what you want to do!

I really wanted to have the baby's name somewhere in the room (like wooden letters or something) and I also wanted a Dr Seuss quote (either painted or with decals). This combines them both! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!

Of course, the name will change, as well as the color. (and just to clarify, all we're using from this first photo is the lettering, probably in red...we're not using the paint idea from the first photo...although I do like the little stools!)

Added 03/09/09...We're almost 100% sure that we're going to copy this idea from the pottery barn website for our walls. Not necessarily exactly those shades of blue and yellow, but probably pretty close. We won't have the "one fish..." lettering, and the "oh the places..." will probably overlap some of the stripes and be in red lettering, but this gives us something to start with! (And, that is the bedding we got...undecided on the bumper, and not sure if the skirt is even part of the bedding at Pottery Barn.)

Here are a couple pieces of furniture that my parents will be bringing with them when our baby is born. They'll either make it to Texas when I'm nearing my due date or they'll wait til we go into labor. So, the nursery won't be 100% complete when baby arrives, but it will have all the necessities.

I love this bookcase, it's about 40 inches tall, so it's not a huge one, but I like it a lot. Not sure if we'll paint it or leave it white. The furniture will be a natural wood color, so painting it red might be fun. Same with the toybox.

This toybox is really cute! My mom's using it right now to store the baby stuff she's bought for us. It's about 16 inches tall, and it will fit perfectly under our window in the nursery. I plan to use it as a bench as well, so I may make a little cushion for it. It's exciting to start piecing the room together, even if it's only through photos right now!

And, here are some of the little gifts my mother has picked up along the way. Their truck will be loaded down when they head to Texas to welcome our little girl! But, honestly, as long as the truck holds them safely, I'll be grateful.

    Here's the crib we're getting...

    The dresser...

    And, the glider/ottoman...

We decided to go with white, since the toy chest and bookcase my parents are bringing with them are both white.

06/30 Check out posts 29 and 30 for new photos! We opted out of getting the ottoman, I am just going to use a stationary object to elevate my feet. Lack of space and I honestly rock better when my feet have something to push against.

How sweet...my mom has already bought a few Dr Seuss books, and as soon as she lets me know which ones, I'll start buying them myself, too. We hope to have as many as possible before baby's arrival. I couldn't believe it when I saw this decal, though! I never thought of combining baby's name with the quote!

You're so cute. My mom actually has a phrase "written" on her dining room wall with those letters and it just looks so pretty. I really think it's a neat, easy way to decorate!

I added a photo to share how we're painting the walls. I think, from the lack of response to the wall decals, that many people don't really like the idea so far. Which is ok. But, hope my pals will check out the paint idea! (Even if it's not our own original idea, hee hee. )

Personally, I love them both! I couldn't even decide which I like better, both are absolutely perfect and adorable and original. The first one, however, is very girly and you may very well be having yourself a little boy but the second one is perfect and unisex.

So when do you find out? Have you thought about 3D ultrasound? They've got a ton of places in Dallas for that, but it's a little expensive.

Do you really think the lettering is girly? That's all we're using from that first photo, and the letters will be red, regardless of gender. We're not interested in the paint from the first photo, just the phrase. But, we'll be painting using the pattern from the second photo. Make more sense? hahah, or maybe I'm the confuzzled one.

We're due for our second sonogram on the 19th. I was under the impression that our last appointment was going to be looking at the baby again, but it was just a check up, question-answer session and listening to baby's heartbeat (which was strong, strong, strong!). We should find out at the next appointment, which will put me in my 18th week.

As for the 3D sonogram (or even 4D), if someone paid for it, I'd do it. They personally gross me out a little bit, and I'm not really pining to have one. I like the 2D ones just fine, although I wouldn't pass up a 3 or 4D one if it was offered for cheap or free.

Yes I meant the flowers on the wall, not the saying. As far as the saying, I think I like the first one better, but they're both just absolutely darling. I love them both so very much. I do like your taste in the outfits/nursery themes, etc. You've got good taste, girl

Yeah I never wanted to spend the money for 3D ultrasound. If insurance doesn't pay for it, we just couldn't justify paying for that when there were so many more important things that we needed. Becides, I'm extremely intuitive and I knew, knew, knew Quinn was a girl before I even saw her little girly parts, I was almost as certain this one was a boy before I saw his mini boy parts. I guess I found the 3D a waste of money.

Cool, I was hoping that you were referring to the flowers. I wouldn't use them even if I was having a girl, they just don't do it for me. I think they're cute as heck, though! The "Oh the places..." is my favorite quote for the nursery, for sure...the other one I'd like to use in a smaller format (maybe on a trunk we'll put under the window) is the "A person's a person, no matter how small." I'll be sure to post photos as we create the nursery. We won't be using white furniture, either, although the white looks gorgeous!

    Thanks for the compliments!

I have no idea what we're having. But, I'm excited, either way. And, yeah, if the 3D sonograms I've seen hadn't been squishy and weird looking, I'd pay the money to do it. But, they really do sort of freak me out. David feels the same way.

I like the decal. (I've looked at this, but just realized I'd never posted anything.) Also, if the gingham bed skirt doesn't come with the Pottery Barn set, but you like the look, check out Wal-Mart's website. Katherine's whole crib bedding set is gingham. Hers is green and white, but they do have red & white, and they do sell the pieces separately. The price is great, too.

Awesome, I will check that out for sure! Thanks for the suggestion! The crib has a drawer underneath it so it might be nice to "hide" that!

I love the simplicity of the bottom photo. The colors are so cool. The wall reminds me of beadboard.

Kari, this is so much fun watching you have a blast with this. Thanks. I can pretend it's my grandchild.(if it's ok with you).

Forgive me, but what's beadboard? And, of course, little one will have an honorary Pet Talk Grandma in you, Terry!
