Lightbulb Findlay Bark Park ~ The INside mini-Pavilion / Shelter

    GOOD NEWS, Findlay Fans!
The much requested and long promised INside the Park
Pavilion / Shelter is now UNDER Construction!!

Granted, it's not too impressive in it's current form, but Two Posts
and a pile of sand or dirt IS a Start!

These snappies are courtesy of our own Staci and Miz Keegan and were
taken on Tuesday, September 16, 2008.

According to an eye wittness, the Construction Crew is made up of local
High School Shop Class students who are working on the Shelter as a
learning expierence for school credit. Materials have been donated by
    some local Findlay businesses.

Hopefully we can encourage ALL of our local Findlayites to visit the Bark
Park - WITH their snappie-boxes - and take uppiedate pictures as the
    project advances.

So far, there's been no word from the Hancock County Parks District on
how Memorial Donations towards the cost of the Pavilion can be handled.
I'll keep *hinting* that some of us would like to be able to contribute and
have a Memorial Plaque mounted somewhere on the structure.

On with the photo report >>>

Note: Two of our latest Pet Talk Memorial Trees are visible to the left
of the sand/dirt pile; and the original PT Memorial Bench and Trees are
visible in the far distant right corner (between the right post and the
    fence post in both pictures).

    And a closer view >>>

THANKS to Tim & the Parks Folks for taking our suggestions!

More snappies to follow - as soon as someone takes some more!

    THANKS, Staci!!

Hey - that's great - both that they are constructing a shelter, and who is doing the construction. Various of my now-deceased relatives would approve - Uncle Mac, Grandpa Smith, Uncle Bill, etc. - all were in favor of teaching kids to build things, and be constructive citizens in the literal meaning of the phrase.

Timely, too - getting up a roof before the autumn windy rains come would likely be MOST welcome by regulars!

That's great!!! Like the Mayor said, not just because it's nice to have shade but also because they are having local shop kids build it!

I can't wait to check it out!

Okay, okay, I'll try to haul some of the dogs around here out - it's hard when there is 8 mutts and they all want to go and you don't want them all to go especially if you are going alone and since there is a 3 or 4 dog limit - but maybe I'll grab Tucker and Dazzi one night this week and run on out. (they are my best riding, getting out of the car mutts.) Miss Staci - why didn't I know you were in town on Tuesday, September 16??????

    Exclamation October 29, 2008, Mini-Pavilion Uppie-Date

Staci provided this On-The-Scene Report from
Reporter Carrie (Mom to Great Dane Gabbie).

"We haven't been there in about 2 weeks. Actually it was when it was quite nice out.
But the last 2 times changes were visible.

The first time they had cut out the fence where the shelter is going and
they had also dug the holes for the posts to go in. Orange barrels and caution tape.

The second time (and our lastest trip there), they had started the posts
for the corners and the roof beams. I would imagine that it could actually be done by now.

I'll make sure to take a picture when we go out next.
The temp. looks great the next several days, maybe we'll go out on Sunday?"

THANKS to both Staci and Carrie for the new information!!

I was hoping Amy posted her pictures from Sunday but I see she hasn't. We stopped at the park on the way to Staci's - they aren't much further along. We got some interesting looks from people (no one we knew) coming in with cameras and no dogs. I am having trouble with shutterfly - maybe I will try photobucket tonight. Everyone out there seemed to think it was a good idea although they wondered if it was going to have sides and we had no clue.

The Pavilion Project must not be an "every day" event for the School Kids.

Too bad ... the *nice* construction weather is going to run out pretty soon.

But it DOES look **Mighty Phine**!

Yes, Phred that's the one! I think someone has blocked things on my computer at work so I can't post pictures. I couldn't do it with shutterfly and now I haven't been able to with photobucket. I just haven't had the time or energy at home to try it there. And yes, I was surprised it wasn't further done too but at least it has been started after all this time!
