Buckle of Snap... which is better?

Buckle or snap collars, which one is beter, and why? I personally like the snap ones, because they are much easier and quicker to get on and off, but I also like the buckle ones.

    which one do you like?

I will NEVER use a snap collar.
    I do not trust them.

    Metal buckles.

my dogs collars have metal buckles, but their harnesses have plastic snaps.

I prefer the metal buckles because they are stronger, but I can only ever seem to find harnesses with plastic snaps.

I've always used the plastic snaps and have never had a problem with them, I've gone through about 6 or 7 (none have broken, just wanted a change) and neither brooke or riley (who are very good at pulling) have never broken them. They are very easy to get on and off, too.. can't say much for buckles, have never had or used them.

I only use their collars for their tags (they're normally in a harness for walking) so it's a toss-up between both. I just bought some snap ones, a couple days ago, cause they were cute.

Nebo had a snap collar break when he was younger and it was very frightening! I use a rolled leather buckle collar on him now. I will never us anything but a buckle for a husky since that.

I used snaps, but Rosie's collar fell off one day (the plastic snap broke) fortunatly she just sat under the tree all afternoon. I discovered Star's snap was broken and replace it with a metal snap - they sell them at most big pet stores. However, I just ordered some adjustable collars that loop over their heads from a husky supply place - will let you know how they work out. they were very inexpensive, and it's the kind i've seen breeders use.

I use snaps. Its so much easier to get on and off. My dogs doesn't wear collars while they are at the house just when I take them walking or out.

Neither! My dogs' collars have no clips, one solid piece of nylon with a slide to adjust the size.

Right now Buddy has a metal buckle, and Sierra has a plastic clip. But my friend has found collars with metal snaps!
I think I'll have to get the pups new collars!!!

Buckle of Snap... which is better?

Well to me it all depends on how you use them.

I personally always put a training collar on my dogs when they are out because I don't trust them with any collar since they could slip their heads out (and believe me...they can!). So I just have the rolled leather collars for the girls because they have such long hair it just looks better and Bon has a snap collar.

When Jada was little I put a snap collar on her and it didn't even last a day. I haven't used one since. I use a prong collar when we are out walking and I'm going to get both my dogs the buckle collar.

Thank you Kay for the beautiful sig!

Ii use the snap ones as they are a lot easier to get on & off. I get good quality ones, as I have had bad luck with the cheap ones.
