Thanks for the reminder Sue. I've posted a couple of times about this terrific movie, but have been clueless as to the air time! Can't wait to see it! Thanks!
Here's the url from animal planet about times it's going to be aired and about the movie. I just can't wait to watch it!

This movie looks so good. I'm going to tape it.
Great idea, Diana! I'll tape it, too!
WE CAN'T GET ANIMAL PLANET!!!!!!! The towns around us can, but they say we can't - something to do with the geography. Piffle. I'll have to have my brother tape it for me!
This has nothing to do with the movie, but...
Oh my gosh Karen, you are actually the only other person on earth except me and my family that I have heard use the word "Piffle". I can't believe it. My grandmother used to say it, and she lived in Iowa most of her life before moving to Hawaii in her 70's. How great! Even though "piffle" is in the dictionary, I thought that word was dead. No one I have ever met knows what we mean. We always laugh when we say it to each other, our family fun word.
Don't forget to watch!

I would have loved to have seen that, but we don't have cable yet! Sorry to miss out on that!
Gosh, I knew I had an odd vocabulary - my mom was a writer, and I come from a long line of English teachers on her side. I don't even know where I know "piffle" from - it's just one of those words I've "always" known! Rest assured, neither piffle nor courtesy are truly dead!Originally posted by Jasper's Mom:

I hope you guys saw the movie. It was really good. And the German Shepherd in it was gorgous.
Diana is right. That GSD was magnificent. I'd watch the movie just to see the dog!

Got to watch RAIN here in Hawaii this afternoon. A good movie, and a nice tribute to all those dogs, around 4500 in all, but only 1 in 10, that were able to return. Did the rest just die or were they left behind? That's a lot of loss of loving dogs there. They have not been appreciated enough for their sacrifices, as happened in WW II also. Good movie, but the loss accounted for at the end, very sad.
The movie was very touching. And the fact that most all of these heroes were left behind, very sad. Actually, in reality, Rain would have most likely been left behind; not returned home to the little girl. I saw a special recently on war dog heores. One soldier who served in Vietnam was recounting the incredible deeds and loyalty of his fellow "soldier;" his best friend. Tears were pouring down the face of this big, burly guy. He said that many of the soldier dogs, unbelieveably, were shot (by the army!) or just left behind to fend for themselves, and probably die a very sad death. This soldier was so upset by this. He actually purchased a beautiful plot at a pet cemetary and erected the most fitting and beautiful statue/war dog memorial for his beloved and fallen commrade. I think it's being aired on Monday.....Animal Planet has an in depth documentary on these magnificent heroes, what they did to save so many lives, and sadly, how we abandoned them.
Sandra, I didn't know that until just recently. I am absolutely astounded. I can't believe it nor understand it. There is no reason they couldn't bring our canine soldiers back like they did our military men and women. These dogs should have lived the rest of their lives out in loving homes. I don't doubt that the ASPCA would have found a way to help. What earthly reason is given for such action?
