    A sure sign of spring..

Spring is very late this year, even for the Yukon. We had snow all weekend! But today, while out walking with the dogs, I found a sure sign that spring is coming!

The first crocus! I walked this same trail on Saturday and there was no sign of any flowers or spring growth. The trees all still look dead, but there is some life on the forest floor again!

This area is usually blanketed with crocus.

But there are lots of them starting to come out now!

    Such pretty little flowers.

    What great pictures!!!

I love crocus but didn't see many here this year. I didn't realize they were so fuzzy. That's my favorite color for them too.

Our crocus flowers look much different than yours. These flowers look
like they have coats on. Very pretty.

I've been waiting for your yearly pictures of the crocus! They are so pretty and I enjoy them (through you, because I've never seen them in person!) every year!

    Gorgeous pictures, as always.

Apparently there are over 80 varieties of crocus(I just looked that up on Google! ) The ones found up here are called Prairie crocus. The fuzz helps protect them from cold, wind and prevents water loss.

    Pretty!

All our flowers are drowning. Not nearly as bad at the East Coast, but drowning non the less.

Wow, what great flowers!!! Those crocus also look so different from the ones we have her. They are so "hairy", almost look like our Pulsatilla!
