    New fosters (2-15-06)

    Meet Shelly

She was a mom (at a VERY young age). And she s a very small cat. The drain on her system made her weak and sick for months. But she is much better now and waiting for that special home.

She is a SMOKE black tuxedo (my FAVORITE)

And this is Simba. (he is the attached photo, no time to upload) He is a sweet boy. He HUGS!

I love my precious kittens and I hope they have long and happy lives filled with love.

Cats and dogs arent pets, theyre family members that need the same respect as humans. Would you dump your children out in the countryside to fend for themselves??

I got tears in my eyes when I saw Simba. He looks just like my RB Mikey, who was the most loving cat I have ever seen. We had Mikey for almost 17 years and in that time he never hissed or growled ONCE. He was my lover boy.

Shelley is so pretty, those little tuxies always look so formal!
Loving meowmie to Archy & Binky (RIP my sweet boy 10/13/10)

Shelly looks a little rough around the edges but is going to be glossy and georgous in no time, I'm sure. She has lovely eyes, almost a celadon green. For those of us who are new to this forum, Jen, how does your foster system work? If you worked with a shelter, I'm assuming the task of finding a permanent home would be done by them. You work with a rescue group and each rescuer takes full responsibility?

I work with a rescue group. They take responsibility for the animals. Vet bills are covered by the group. They "advertise" the cats on Petfinder and have adoption events and fund raisers and all that good stuff. We, the volunteers and foster moms, can help in the adoption process.....talking to the people, home visits.....etc, but we need to use the groups "criteria". Like, they can not have the cat declawed, it must be an indoor only pet....etc. We can't allow them to make an exception to our rules just because it is fostered in our home.

I could never do this without the support of a group.
