Cruise ship would not allow stranded dog on board

Read a very sad story today. Apparantly a tanker was sinking, and the crew was rescued by a Norwegian Star cruise ship, but the cruise ship refused to allow a dog that was on the sinking ship aboard. The dog was left to die.
To me this is just horrible. I'll never set foot on that cruise line's ship, and I'm going to spread the word.
You can read the story at: http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/04/08/dog....ap/index.html
I'd love to hear the Norwegian Star's explanation of why they left an animal to die. Such cruelty should not be forgotten.

    I am appaulled!

Andrew and I are members of their Lattitude club (like skymiles) and have been cruising with them for several years. I don't think I have cruised with any other line before. I am going to write a letter and let them know how I feel.

I know I won't be cruising with them again. Andrew and I were booked to go on their SouthEast Asia tour this December. They can forget it!

Good idea! I would really like to know what their excuse is for letting some poor guy's dog die on a sinking ship...

Awful, just awful. I'll be sure to write them an angry letter.

I bet they thought the dog would dirty down their pretty lil snob ship

If I had been that owner I would have REFUSED to be saved unless they allowed my dog along. They wouldn't have left the man there because I'm sure they could have gotten in trouble for that, so in the end they would have had to let the dog along.

Please sign my guestbook if you have the time

Oh I am so happy to hear that the pup was found!

That doesn't mean I have changed my opinion about NCL. Andrew was disgusted when he heard about this whole deal. We have cancelled our plans with them.
