    Sammy's clean bill of health

Sammy got his rabies shot today, and as alot of you know I had to get him checked for other things.

    1. His dandruff is normal for cockers during the winter.
    2. the cut looking thing on his eye is just bloodshot eyes. It'll go away.
    3. His troubles with pooing are still unknown. She checked his anal glands and said they were fine. If it pursists I have to take him back.

The vet says I am feeding him too much. I just do what the bag says, but the vet says cockers need a little less then what the bag says. He is already 12 1/2 pounds. 4 more pounds than a month ago! I am glad he's healthy and growing.

Yeah the instructions on th e bag are just guidelines. You can feed as much as you want.

Glad to hear he's doing fine though!

As for the feeding guidelines on the food package -- I used to follow that too and it made my dogs fat (Mandy and my RB Buttons). Also, I hear that a lot at work and these people have fat dogs. I honestly think that a lot of companies have you overfeed your dogs so that they can sell more. Just today we had a dog come in to board and her owners brought in the pedigree that she eats. I was looking at the bag and for a dog her size (Golden Retriever, 85lbs) it said 5 1/2-9 cups a day! Now you KNOW that would make her fat!

But, in regards to his health, I'm glad to see everything went well. He doesn't deserve any health problems yet, he's too young for that!

Wow, it's really sad how companies do that. Just pitiful. (sp?)

Thanks everyone! I can't get a pic of Sam right now, so you won't be able to see him for awhile.
