Hi there.
Would like to get some feedback about a situation. I know of a woman who has been feeding 3 or 4 feral cats. They're used to her and they hang out on her porch. However, they are skittish around all other people. I believe they are spayed/neutered. Well, this woman is moving out and is concerned about what to do with the cats. Most likely the new resident won't appreciate these cats hanging around this house and taking them with her is not an option for this woman. There is no one else in the area who can keep their food supply coming.
Will the cats do ok on their own, hunting mice, birds, etc? Or should she turn them into the shelter where they will undoubtedly be euthanized? I'm torn because I fear the cats will suffer without her around and euthanization would be painless for them but that's a tough decision and I don't know if she's willing to consider that option.
Any thoughts out there on this situation? Thanks.
Anita
