Star's Mom - Ground ginger will also repel a cat. I had a kitten that would keep climbing up into my pull out sofa bed. We were afraid to pull it out because we never knew if we would catch her paw or some other part of her and injure her. We rubbed ground ginger on the bottom of the couch and she never went near it again! This trick works for everything you want them to stay away from - even plants. If they are digging in your plants, put ground ginger in the dirt and on the leaves and your problem will be solved without damaging the plants.

I also have the same problems with rugs and mats, spent a fortune and ended up throwing them all out. However many years later here I am with a bathroom mat and fingers crossed it'll stay there, not brave enough to spend on a nice rug though, slowly does it !!!
