Adopt A Dog That Needs Help

Look at these poor puppers, that have special needs and need a home

Lets all post pictures of dogs that need homes with special needs.

Does anyone want one of these cuties?

Phoenix is such a trooper! Our Vet x-rayed him and he has a dislocated left hip and a fractured right pelvis near the hip. This poor guy has been living in pain for a month. He will have a procedure called a Femoral Head Osteotomy done, followed by extensive physical therapy. Then we will see what else may need to be done to give him the best life possible. We need to raise $500.00 for his surgery and continued post surgical care.
Phoenix is a survivor. A man who had no clue what it meant to be owned by a Border Collie spent a large amount of money to purchase this puppy. He gave the dog away to an associate who didn't care for him and left him outside to starve. He currently weighs 36 pounds and should weigh 45 pounds or more.

A Good Samaritan stepped in and rescued Phoenix and contacted rescue. We were shocked when we met this poor dog. His coat is bleached and broken, he is painfully thin and he has fractures that were left untreated after being struck by a truck a month ago.

We are calling this boy Phoenix, because he will rise from the ashes and once again become a beautiful dog. He is not available for adoption yet, because he needs to have orthopedic surgery, regain his coat and some weight. We are currently seeking sponsors for his surgery. If you can help, please click on the paypal paw or contact his foster.

Phoenix is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and neutered.

I was rescued at 5 weeks of age from a local shelter. I am a lab mix and have a shiny smooth black coat and a beautiful smile. I enjoy riding in the back seat of the car, viewing the scenery. Unlike a lot of boys I am a cuddle bug and will greet you with affection after a hard days work.
In addition to looking for a forever home, my foster mom is also looking for sponsorship for my special need. The vet says that I need to have an operation on the knees of my back legs as my patellas don't stay in place very well. The surgery will correct the problem and will cost about $315/leg. Thanks to Animal Trustees of Austin, for offering us these very generous rates. We are doing one leg at a time and are currently 55% of the way to doing leg #1. Thanks to all of Noah's sponsors!! If you can help, please click on the paw.

In spite of the pain in my legs, I am playful and love people so much that I get a little excited when I am first introduced, but have a very laid back personality. I am affectionate with new people. I am also potty trained. Yeah!!!

Some of my favorite toys are hard plastic pool toys that I enjoy dunking for in the pool or playing with outside of the pool; I also enjoy tennis balls or chewing on an old stick. I am content to play alone but also enjoy playing with people. I get along with other dogs but don't necessarily have to have another canine companion as long as my owner spends time with me and takes me on adventures.

My favorite treats are pieces of frozen fruit such as strawberries, peaches, pineapple, and melon as well as ice cubes and carrots and of course dog biscuits. Won't you please let me visit for a weekend and I know you'll fall in love with me.

Noah current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative and neutered. We do not allow out of state adoptions.

Mookie, is a special needs 3-year old golden boy, who transferred from GRIC / Goldentown to Gold Haven on March 3rd, 2004.

Mookie's urethra was irreversibly damaged during his neuter surgery. As a result, he leaks urine sporadically. However, he is housebroken and does wear a "belly band" indoors to prevent leaking in the house. Other than leaking, Mookie is in perfect health. The damage caused during his neutering should not affect his general health.

The ideal home for Mookie would be one where he has other dog playmates as he loves to play. He is extremely intelligent and very, very loving. This boy loves baths! Keeping him clean is a joy because he is so good during the grooming process.

Since he leaks sporadically throughout the day, Mookie would do best where he could spend part of his time outdoors - which he loves to do, and come inside in the evenings and to sleep at night. A mild climate area is essential.

If you would like more information on this very special, beautiful and loving golden boy, please contact Wanda at 661-944-1140 or send email to [email protected]. Only serious inquiries PLEASE.

Only homes in close proximity to the Los Angeles or San Francisco Bay areas will be considered.

    GRIC / Goldentown notes:

Mookie's Special Needs: During his neutering Mookie's urethra was cut causing urine to leak. He was taken for corrective surgery but the vet specialist feels Mookie will always leak urine.

Update June 6, 2003: Goldentown vets found out this week that there was much more serious damage done to Mookie during his neutering than a cut urethra and that there is no surgery or procedure that will repair his leaking problem.

    Those are some dogs.

I didn't get any photos!!! My cousin is looking for another baby. Angel had some joint diese (I can't remember what it was called) and she had to have him put down. Because he was in so much pain all the time. She was going to take off work to go South and try to adopt. But she can't get the time.
