    Urrr

Racism has once again come over the USA. In Montana they are starting to put up signs that say "Will Not Sell to Native Americans" How dumb, and isn't that illegal? It really makes me mad

It doesn't make it right but it may be because if you sell something and it ends up on a reservation you can't get it back if they don't pay....not saying its right just a reason.

And it's the most common reason too, sadly. The way the laws work around here...if you even have a car break down on a reservation, tow companies cannot come and tow your car. It's really wierd...and stupid IMO

That's sad! I am a teeny part Native American, but it was several generations ago. We don't have many intact Native American communities back east here, so don't run into those problems (towing, etc.). I wish people would understand we are all human beings, and all immigrants to this continent anyway, just some folks got here a lot earlier than others. It doesn't mean we should treat anyone as better or worse depending if they got here by land bridge, canoe, Viking longboat, tall ship, raft or aircraft. We're all human beings!

Technically, could not someone hire a Native lawyer to recover money or property once it is on the reservation? We do have treaties between our nations ...

It was their land long before it was ours. I don't see how they can get away with making a statement like that.

Your right...It really never did leave..

Karen, I fully agree with you and dukedogsmom. We are all human beings, no matter who or what you are.

caseysmom, all though I do understand you point, it is illegal, I looked it up..Your right too, it doesn't excuse it either though.

I have a friend that paid a lot of money for a house and land and the other home owners built a private road, they gave the reservation nearby permission to use the private road. Soon after they tried to open a casino, my friends peaceful life up in the mountains turned into beer bottles being thrown from cars, cigarettes being thrown and on and on.

She said most of the folks trying to benefit from the casino are not native americans, they are being used. The bad thing is if a crime happens there its hard for local law enforcement to get involved. She is pretty upset about the whole thing, when she bought the land she use to say, "its near a reservation, isn't that cool"

I just don't believe our current rights need to be walked all over for something that happened to a group long ago. I also think that sign sounds horrible!

    Very strange

I find it VERY strange that out West that Native Americans are treated "racially different". Here in the South and when I lived up North, Indian Heritage is something to be "proud" about. I am VERY proud that I am 1/8 Indian. We have lot's of Indian culture celebrations in the area. Near my parents there is one museum dedicated to finding ancestors and displaying the history of the Cherokee Indians.
However, we don't have many Indian Reservations. The one's we do have is just for the gambling and casino's. They are not for the true heritage or pride of the Native American. That is truly sad.
The tow truck or other services not coming onto the Indian Reservation may not be racially motivated. It may be legal. Indian reservations fall under different rules. They are FEDERALLY controlled and NOT State ruled. That may carry some liabilities to business owner's when dealing with going onto Reservation land. Some business protections may not apply on Federally controlled property. I know if I don't feel my liabilty insurance on my vehicle would be valid in an area if I am to have an accident, I may not go to that area. For Example, In Mexico, it is illegal to have a car accident. Everyone leaves the scene of an accident down there.
So check out the local laws pertaining to the Reservation. Maybe there are truly some liability issues in the works that goes beyond normal common sense! Otherwise, sue the whiteman for trespassing on your property!!!

Living here in MOntana I have yet to see those signs some oe want to tell me where the found this info?
i have the chancee to see both sides or 3 sides as a white as a sibling to a Native american and as third party. My brother is full Blooded Courdaline(spelling bad) from Idaho its a companation Flathead and Salish Kootni . He was raised in our home for this example as a white , when he found his bio parents he had been regerstered with the tribe and was afull blood. He decided to live on the res with his kids. As in all cultures they live and think differently, one think (which was not hard for my brother to accept) was the family bed all sleeping together until kids are 6-7 years old.
They thing that bothered him and still does is the lack of parenting skills its just let them run and when it bothers some one they disapline the child. Way wrong as to our familys thinking. Also no really punishments when doing wrong, My nephew got caught with pot at school, they suspended him for3 days(great he hates school any way)some punishment. My brother insisted they give him some kingd of community service if nothing else.(that turned out to be good cuz he found a job the liked and was hired on permently. ) But Its nothing to find 8-9 kids flaked out on his floor in the morning parents having no clue where they are. And worst of all don't seem to care.
My brother and his bio dad and Brothers new girl freind white with a 1/2 blood daughter are working to get parenting in to schools and the clinic where she works.
A;so trying to set up a fund for the kids to save for colleges and incuring them to apply them selves in school to improve their lives.
It's nothing to see a 7 year old getting $50 of his government check for a weekend at the arcade in the casino as mom and dad gamble theres away. Very disturbing .
I am proud of my brother fortrying to help his people find their way again.

Corinna, I got this information from my teacher (we are doing a HUGE project on African Americans, Native Americans, and Jews) She talked to a father and a son Native American, and in there town and surrounding area's, there are signs up.

*If you want more info on the concert, just pm me, it is very interesting!*

It's not illegal, nope. Any business or store can deny sale to anyone for any reason. Just like a bartender can deny giving a drunk man more shots. A store manager can choose not to sell to anyone and everyone, if he/she chooses to do so.

It is sickening, but it never "left". It's always been around, but it's very immature. Come on America, lets get past this.

One way to stop this is for everyone who was born in the USA to boycott the business. After all, technically anyone born in the USA is a "native" American!
No matter what anyone does, someone some where will be offended some how!!!!
