    Kaige says PT prayers work!

As if we didn't know that huh? I won't tell him though, I'll let him feel special!

He was stable enough that he was able to come home last night. He was extremely lethargic but that was expected. And boy what a turn around this morning, he was just about back to his normal self... until he got his dose of benadryl anyways. Now he's a little sleepy again, which is good, it's best to keep him calm for the first 24-48 hours to make sure the vit. k. doesn't interfere with his blood flowing properly.

He should be able to continue with the vitamin K treatment. My vet told me that the Vit. K. injectable has different compounds (or something similar) and is stronger than the oral Vit. K, therefore the risk of an allergic reaction is pretty great with the injectable and rare with the oral form. I'm also pre-treating with benadryl as an extra precaution and also to follow up with his severe reaction yesterday.

He should pull through this ordeal with no problem. But he's not out of the woods yet, there is still a chance (small but its there none the less) of him becoming allergic to the vit k. oral treatment &/or it not working as it is not a cure. We have to follow up with a coagulation panel once the vit k treatment is complete to check the status of his blood clotting ability and of course keep a watchful eye on him for any symptoms.
He also has to stay calm for the next week to prevent him from getting injured. There is that chance that they Vit K won't work or hasn't fully kicked in yet & if he gets cut or bruised the blood may not clot correctly, therefore causing excessive bleeding, much like a hemophilia person.

Here he is this morning, resting of course. I tried not to disturb him but when all it takes is me batting an eyelash to get him to move it's kind of hard not to. lol

Oh Kaige, sweetheart, you have to do everything your Mommy tells you to do. You need to relax and stay calm, and take all of your medicine without a problem. Okay? You are such a cute little guy, we will continue to keep good thoughts going for you.

Thank God Sue that Kaige is going to be okay. I've been so worried about him. What a terrible ordeal for you and Kaige to have to go through. I'm wishing you the best of luck in keeping him calm because we know how hyper these pups are. My thoughts and prayers will stay with you both

Thank you all, once again. And Kaige says thank you for all the extra hugs!

Kaige is still pretty lethargic and it's been quite a while since his last dose of benadryl. Otherwise he's doing pertty good.

This is probably our last update, until Monday anyways.
