    hairy face bunny (LOL)

my rabbit had babies a while ago, and the babies are now about 3 months old. all of the babies are REALLY hairy around there face. the parents are short hair rabbits though. why are the babies so hairy? and will they stay hairy? just curious if anyone else has ever had this happen. (i have to admit it is pretty darn cute though) here is a pic of one.

Yep, that definately looks like a Lionhead. The parents most have some Lionhead in them but not all Lionheads have manes that are noticeable. There are single maned Lionheads with a small amount of fur around their heads to none and double maned Lionheads with lots of fuzz!

yep, I thought that pic was a purebred lionhead at first! Here is a site belonging to someone on another board, they have lionheads:

She doesn't look anything like a Lionhead to me, but she may have some Lionhead a few generations back... who knows.

dosent matter what they look like on the outside when i had my rabbit i was told the dad was a netherland dwarf mix and he was totally fluffy look alot like a netherland dwarf had the ears and size and everything and the mom was a silver martin mix with mini dwarf yet some how we got pure bred rex babies....so there has to be some kind of backround in there with lion head i can tell you the mum isnt pure bred, if lion heads can have no mane then she probs a lion head mix cuz shes also got the colouring of a lion head not just a cinnamon

That is a cute cute bunny. One of my bunnies is a lion head, and looks just like yours, but a different colour.
