About Winston.Old name "Lucky" from Louisianna.

Hi Everyone.I found out from the heart specialist that Winston has heart disease. It's very bad for a 3 year old cat.His heart is enlarged and hardening.Plus a leaky valve but that is nothing. He is on heart meds 2 times a day and will see the heart specialist every 9 months. But he should not live long with this rapid disease. When a cat is young and gets this disease, the disease develops very quick. When they get it when they are older it is slower. The poor guy.He is the most lovable cat.We hope he lives a few more years for us.The heart doctor has a branch 20 minutes from our new home in Maine too so this is great. He works there 2 times a week.We hopefully will be moving to our new home in Maine soon. We'll know in less than a month if Mike can take early retirement from GE.
Lucy went to the heart specialist too.She has Minor heart muscle disease and should be OK for a while plus a leaky valve which they say is usually nothing to worry about.Lucy doesn't need to be seen every year for her heart unless she starts coughing.
    Winston.Poor baby.He's on the right.

And he is on the right again next to his brother Benson also from Louisianna

And Winston with Lucy. The 2 went together to the heart doc yesterday

Thank You Kim for this wonderful siggy

I must tell all of you that his brother Benson has made so many friends here that it won't be so devistating when the time comes for Winston his brother to pass.Benson got super close to Marshall and Madeline and a couple others so it helps. They both made good friends with others here.
I know that Benson still will be looking for him and sad but it will be better that he has all these other cats here to keep him busy.Let's hope it is a long way away though.

I'm so sorry to hear this poor little guy.

Thanks to Laura and you and Mike, he has enjoyed the good life, knowing he is loved and cherished - and will continue to enjoy until he is needed at RB.

OH Carla! This is so distressing and saddens me so. I was SURE those boys had went off to a wonderful long life of happiness and love. Those boys have been through so much together already and I am sure Benson will be there for his brother til the end, loving and comforting him.

OK, I got your emails about him and although I am still so heartbroken that I know I will be crying all day, my heart does feel lighter with what you have told me.

I am SO glad we got them out of that other home and into yours, even more so now! We all know what that idiot would have done with a sick cat! At least now, Winston knows what it is like to have love, food, a wonderful home, and lots of friends.

I know his brother will miss him terriably but now that he has many, many other brothers and sisters to love, they will help him and he can live for him and his brother, the life that all felines deserve from birth. Thanks to you and Mike for giving these two all you have and the care you have taken of them and will continue to take. I still miss those boys and it is even more important to me to know that we sent them on to a better life with you and Mike...

(Remember, PT prayers have already worked miracles with Winston before so lets get them going AGAIN and keep them going!)

Thank You Laura.Remember,I make sure they go to the finest doctors no matter the cost. And when we move to Maine in a couple months...plan on a trip to our home to see the boys.Whenever you can.He won't die for a while I'm sure.Especially since I'm following the heart specialists orders to the max.

Maine? brrrrrrrr!! My poor old bone will not take that kind of cold but if I thought they could, I WOULD in a heartbeat! They are just two really sweet boys that have stolen so many hearts.. I already know, firsthand, how sweet they are and I will forever cherish every snuggle and pur I had with them. (always have!) They are just such special boys and have such a story and all of PT have invested in them in prayers, help, love and everything a person could ask for, has been found here, INCLUDING a wonderful home with you and Mike.

It will just take my mind and my heart time to accept his fate and deal with it but I am sure I will somehow. I STILL think PT prayers have worked magic before for him and can again.... Maybe not a cure but to be happy and know how loved he is, enough that he can be around a lot longer that the doctors think.

I'm adding my prayers. I sure hope Winston lives a whole lot longer Carla. He's the boy that was in the hospital in Louisiana, right? So many kitties it's easy for me to forget which of the two went in so sick. If so, it sure makes me wonder if the neglect he suffered down there led to this heart problem? I know he was treated for hemobartinella along with other things...or was that Benson? Geesh...please give those boys kisses for me!
Duh...edit : of course it was Winston that was hospitilized in LA! Otherwise he wouldn't have been named Lucky! Really makes me wonder if his rough start in life led to this problem...and wouldn't doubt it.
