    Silly sled dogs...

I went for a very short run today. The run itself didn't go particularly well, but it was still better than a great day at work!

I ended up having to put Ozzy in lead as Pingo didn't feel like coming today. Paxil was fine with a new partner.

He did better than I thought he would--very well considering that Hobo was running in front of him barking his fool head off (Hobo snuck through the gate and ran loose instead of being in the team!)

Pacer hates having his picture taken! No way was he going to look at me! Franklin was just happy he got to go for a run. (these are all afterward, back in the yard)

This is my new favorite pic of Antare. He just looks so completely happy! I wish I could find one of his shelter pics so you could see the difference in him. Antare spent the first ten months of his life trying to become one with his kennel wall. He had to be carried out to the dog yard to pee. He was too afraid to walk!

That really is an adorable picture. You have obviously made him feel quite comfortable. And will he eventually get to pull the sleds with the big guys? Will being a timid guy make that more difficult?

He already does run with the big boys. He's just a little dog, about 40 pounds, but he's all power. He's one of my best pullers. He can't lead; it's too much pressure for him, but he will run anywhere else in the team.

Being timid makes him more difficult to harness and train. But once he gets something, he gets it forever. I run my timid dogs beside very calm, confident ones. They pick up what the dogs around them are doing and follow along.

I have always wanted to go on a run with sled dogs! OMG! My cousin lives in Alaska, and he rides on a sled with his dogs, but I live in Minnesota, so, it is kind of hard to go up there!

    Adorable and beatiful dogs!
