i was at a dog show and noticed that a handler was trimming most of her rottie's whiskers off! i was shocked and always thought it would hurt them. is it ok to trim them?

As far as I know it will not harm them. A lot of show dogs have their whiskers trimmed off. Think of dogs such as poodles that get their muzzles shaved all the time, they are fine with no whiskers. I don't think dogs use their whiskers like cats do.

Personally I would never trim off my dogs whiskers. I think Nebo's are adorable.

The groomer always took RB Tonee's off and shortend her eye lashes. After a bit I told her to leave the lashes. They were beautiful. Like an inch long !!

I trimmed my Chow's whiskers as well...

My ex-husband's cousin breeds Golden's, and she always did hers, said it gave 'a cleaner face'.. I agree, but I won't cut Trix's, I don't think..

I trim Emily and Clipse's whiskers all the time. I like the "neat" look it gives their muzzles.

I don't trim my dogs whiskers, I don't actually even notice they have any unless I am specifically looking at the whiskers.

I trim the Shelties' whiskers as well. I like how clean it looks.

I had to trim Heidi's whisker's for the show. Most dog's whiskers are trimmed when they are shown...except for Tollers. They don't trim theirs. I like Heidi's whiskers, and I was happy when they grew back. I think they are cute. I like it when they twitch..hehe.
