I particularly like the threads that go off in all sorts of unexpected directions, and the ones where there are lots of participants, all just having a good time.

So here goes (in no particular order):

Lily is ready for the Olympics!! Who wants to join her?
    http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...light=Olympics

The Cruise Of The Good Ship "Feline Princess"
    http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...threadid=42305

WHO was their real estate/rental agent!?? (Burd Tail)
    http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...light=driveway

… and by showing me a full set of claws, Fister persuaded me that

    Fister wants his posts back!
    http://67.15.70.205/talk/showthread....ghlight=fister

is essential reading for all serious Pet Talkers. (He claims that if it hadn't been for him complaining, there wouldn't have been any Feline Princess Cruise, and I didn't dare disagree!)

I know they're very cat orientated, but I'm a cat freak, so I suppose that's logical.

Jonza - I've read all of the nominated threads - and I can hardly stop crying.

Could I suggest we actually have TWO Threads for Thread of the Year 2004? One being the normal daft, PetTalk type funny thread and the other a Pet Memorial.
It's just too difficult to choose between a funny thread and a heartbreaking thread.

Would it make a lot of extra work for you if everyone voted twice?
    A 'funny' and a memorial.

  3. (Randi will probably whack me up side the head)

I really like Lynne's idea....a happy best thread and a touching one...

And I second Jonza's nominations! I've been rereading them and laughing out loud!

Various ways of doing ” Thread of the Year” have been suggested, but my intention is to find out which ten threads from 2004 people like the best. It worked so well the previous years.

I’m really not up to doing it all split up. Two and four different polls have been suggested, and I imagine the discussion about various ways of doing it could go on and on …. If anyone else wants to do a "Thread of the year" for individual Forums - or whatever, please do!

In this one, each person can nominate up to 5 threads from all the different Forums and the ten most nominated will make it into the poll. When the voting is over, you’ll see the ten threads listed, ranking in order of popularity. You can still see which are the most popular threads from the different Forums.

So far, 18 different threads have been nominated, of which about 9 have got more than one nomination.

Ok. The cat olympics one was hilarious! Also, the feline cruise. Farewell to Angus(dog memorial) I haven't read Bob's story yet so I will get back to you on that one.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.

In my heart you'll forever be.

Turn back time to make it so.

    Also:

Since quite a few of you don't think it's enough with one poll, I'm prepared to divide them up into more. Some have suggested two .... a Serious/Sad one, and a Happy/Funny one.

Others have suggested 4 - Dog, Cat, Pet and Other.

I'd like your opinions on how to divide them, especially from you who suggested it - and the overall titles for each, and whether you want two or four.

If we choose to have two polls, ALL threads will of course have to fit into those! Will everything be covered this way? I'm not sure!

Whichever way it's done, I'll only let the ones you SAY you nominate, on the list, so please make it clear whether you nominate or not!

The subjects such as Magoo, which has many overlapping threads, I'll still put into one. We'll then have a Top Ten for each of the Subjects and/or Forums we choose.

If I don't get any responses on this, I'll just do it the way I planned to begin with, one overall poll, like the previous years - but in any case, I'll let the nomination thread run until monday 24th, so you have a bit more time.

Honestly, I had thought Binx was 2003. So, I think the #1 dog one should be a tie with Binx and Angus.

I thought Binx was 2003 also I still have to go with feel good, laugh and have fun. 2004 had enough tears and fears (for me anyway). So far at least, I think I'll be going with the Feline Cruise but the voting ain't over till the Phat Lady sings
