    Maggie Ate A Plastic Fork

Maggie was "clicking" something around in her mouth yesterday
afternoon and I stuck my fingers inside her mouth & retreived
a piece of white plastic. It looked like a fork tine. I quickly
searched around the room for any other parts & found some
small pieces on the living room floor. She barfed some pieces of
what looks like rawhide & another piece of plastic last night.

She is eating ,drinking and playing like normal, but I'm finding
more pieces in her bowel movements in the yard. The Vet's office
said an x-ray would not show plastic, so to just keep on watching
her. If Maggie stops eating or acts distressed at all, to get her
right over to the office. For the life of me I can't figure out how she
ever got ahold of this plastic. I've looked everywhere to find the
rest of a whole fork, but can't find anything else.

Since it's been two days, I hope like heck she's passed it all. I'm
    getting grayer by the minute.

Oh goodness! They have to put everything in their mouths to check out, don't they? Gracie has gotten hold of some doozies...but I think the bread twist tie worried more than any...I was able to get it away, but what if I hadn't!
I am sure Maggie will be ok..she seems to be over the worst of it, most likely..

Thanks guys. Maggie ate all her supper tonight & even
asked for a little more (which she got). What scares me is
that I didn't hear any crunching sounds earlier than I did &
the fact that I keep the trash well out of reach so I can't
figure out where it came from.

She is such a total sweetheart, it would break my heart for
her to be hurt in any way. I truly love this little one.

I'll be watching the poops for days to come.

    Crazy Pup!

This reminds me of the time Shaggy was discovered to have a gum wrapper in his "Droppings"! He was over at his "Girlfriend's" house and her owner discovered it! We laughed so hard. I am glad he was okay. It was just funny!
The funniest story isn't about my dog but my brother... When he was a baby my mother was changing his diaper. She found a tag in his doo-doo. The tag said: "Made in Tawain". My mother then had to start questioning who the "real" father was!!!!
Anyways, the next time you suspect your dog or cat of eating something poisonous or harmful there is a way to make them throw up. Give them a teaspoon (depending on weight) of hydrogen peroxide. The same stuff used in toothpaste and used in treating cuts. This will produce vomitting in about 10 minutes. Don't over do it. It can be dangerous and should ONLY be used in emergency.
Scooby ate a plate full of chocolate chip cookies while I was talking to a neighbor. I had overloaded the cookies with chocolate chips because they were for me! I gave him about a teaspoon and a half. Within 10 minutes they came up. I recommend doing this outside! They can eat grass AFTERWARD! I promise the dog/cat will hate it but they will spit it up!

Yup, any time one hears a *clicking noise* in and around a dog, one wants to check quickly. Things retrieved around here in the past have included pens and pencils, a plastic 7 day pill container complete with pills, and my husband's partial plate (teeth).

I'm thinking that Maggie has survived the ingestion of the plastic fork. But one can't be too careful. When we got Tucker, he still had the scar from his having to have surgery for a blockage consisting of candy wrappers and dental floss and his former folks were still paying off his huge vet bill. Probably one of the reasons he was headed back to the shelter if we hadn't decided to adopt him.

    Rachel,

Yes, I think she has. A few days after the fork I caught
Maggie with a Halls Mentholyptus cough drop. The paper was
gone, but she spit out the cough drop. I guess she didn't like
the taste. She keeps me busy.

Yes, these puppers sure do keep you on your toes! Glad everything came out in the end. (forgive the pun).
