Pharaoh hounds are so beautiful! I have only met one face to face but have seen many pictures, since they are sighthounds and appear in many of my greyhound books and magazines. They make me think of a cross between a doberman and a whippet!
I love the ears - they are such a charming contrast to the thin little noses. They must have complemented the nobility of anchient Egypt perfectly!
Shu, what a fine representative of this gorgeous breed you are!

Shu, I'm so pleased that a handsome Pharaoh Hound like you has become Dog of the Day. I've got a Maltese background & the Paharaoh Hound is the National Dog of Malta...the island in the Mediterranean. Even tho' your breed originated in Ancient Egypt, it was the Maltese who centuries ago took over the breeding of your ancestors. In Malta, you would be called Kelb Tal-Fenek which means 'The Dog of the Rabbit' because you helped with hunting.
The full history of the Pharaoh Hound...how they came from Egypt but were taken over by the Maltese is on: http://members.aol.com/kelbmalta
